New Challenge at The Squirrel and the Fox and a Little Tribute

As many people will know, Jacqui the talented artist behind The Digi Garden passed away recently.  I was privileged to be one of her Digi Garden Divas and, although we knew she hadn't been well, the news came as a huge shock to all of us and, I'm sure, to many in the crafting community.

Jacqui had a talent for drawing beautifully cute little characters that are so easy to colour.  It was wonderful to be part of her Design Team and to see all these gorgeous images as she made them available for us to use.  She will be missed so much.

Jacqui was also part of the original Design Team for the Squirrel and the Fox challenge blog - we were both part of the team at the outset.  So I decided today was the perfect occasion to mark her passing with a little card using some of her gorgeous images which I hope you will like.

*********************************************************

Full details of the Squirrel and the Fox challenge can be found here on the blog - do have a look at all the gorgeous inspiration from my fellow DT members.  The theme this time is 'love'.

We've been sponsored by:

and

The DT were given images to work with and I chose the beautiful 'Mr and Mrs' from LOTV which you can find here on their website.  I've used white glitter card for my background and then put sheer white ribbon across the middle of the card.  I layered the image panel on to a scalloped white circle and then put some peel off greetings in two corners and three pearls in one of the other corners.  I'm not very good at putting bows on my cards so I made up a little 'faux bow' which I put in the bottom right hand corner topped with another pearl.

Little Claire Class - One Stamp, Lots of Cards

I've just come back from another great class at the Little Claire Design Studio in Ledsham - a big thank you to the ladies who came along and made it such a fun morning!

Today the class was 'One Stamp, Lots of Cards' and I used the beautiful 'Cherish, Hugs, Dream' stamp set which you can find here on the Little Claire website.  We made five cards in all using the main floral image and the little butterfly stamp.

For the first card (above) I stamped the background using the small butterfly stamp and then the main image in black layered on to black and white card.  We used Versafine Onyx Black for this card because it gives a lovely crisp image when you're not using Promarkers (it doesn't work with the Promarkers because the colour bleeds).  To the bottom of the card I added some of the gorgeous English Lace and some white sheer ribbon coloured with a black Promarker.  To finish I used some white pearls - some I left white and some were coloured with a black Promarker.

Next a very simple card using acetate as the base.  This time the image has been coloured and matted on to pink and blue card.  I added a peel off greeting and some clear gems.

This one was a little bit vintage in style.  The image was stamped on kraft paper with Versafine Vintage Sepia and then I tore the edges (against a ruler).  The lace is the same as I used on the first card but this time we coloured it with the Vintage Sepia pad.  Again I finished the card with some little pearls.

Next a card with the image stamped in Memento London Fog for a softer look.  Once it was coloured, the image was then covered in a piece of the Glitter Sparkle Sheet.  I finished the card with a piece of white ribbon and three Card Candi coloured with my Pink Carnation Promarker.

And finally a tag card - for this one I cut the stamped image in to three equal pieces and added the small butterfly to the left hand panel.  I've used white sheer ribbon coloured with my Amethyst Promarker.  The tag cards are available here on the website and you'll see that they also come in lots of other different colours.

I'd like to enter my cards in the following challenges:

Unique Crafter's Challenge Blog - 'lace or fabric' (first and third cards)
Crafty Ribbons Challenge - 'anything goes with a ribbon' (first and last cards)

This is a bookmark I made recently for a swap on one of the Yahoo groups I belong to.  I've used the very cute 'Hedgehogs in Squares' from Little Claire which you can find here on their website.  Instead of using the whole stamp, I've stamped and then cut out three of the squares from the design.  I also used red card, kraft and gingham paper and some Card Candi.  I then put it in a plastic bookmark sleeve and punched a hole at the bottom - the ribbon is from my stash coloured with my Poppy Promarker.
